My life in London - Creative writing, Social studies

My life in London was horrible. The houses were small, dirty and damp.  I hated sharing a bath with my family members. Especially since I was the youngest, meaning I had to bathe in everyone else's dirty water. We had to share a toilet with lots of other families and it was only emptied once a week. They smelled horrible and it made me feel sick every time I had to use them. Sicknesses were spread so easily and I was always on edge because I didn't want to get any of the major sicknesses.

We finally decided to leave our horrible lives in London behind. I was so excited but so nervous. Nobody knew what it would be like in New Zealand. I was happy we were going to start fresh and hopefully have a better life. Hopefully with less of a chance to catch diseases.

The journey on the ship was awful. It was damp and cramped. The boat rocked like crazy and it made me feel really sick. The animals were killed on board so we all had fresh meat. I didn't like meat so I found this horrid. Since there wasn't much room to move it gave diseases a chance to spread fast. Nobody looked very happy and I'm not surprised because I wasn't happy either.

When we arrived after the long journey, all I could do was take a huge sigh of relief. Although I was nervous that I may have caught a disease during the trip, I was just happy to have fresh air. There weren't many people on this island and there was so much greenery. It was so different in New Zealand, Instead of how we brought stuff in London, you could just find someone who has what you need and buy it off them. It didn't take long to forget my life back in London and I am so glad we made the decision to leave.

English Writing

“Is it time the New Zealand flag was changed”

I think that New Zealand’s flag should not be changed. People want to change the flag because it is very similar to Australia’s flag.
I think that changing the flag would cost way too much money and the flag we have now has been through everything alongside the country.
This flag is the one people fought for. The money it would cost to make a new one could be used for something else. Like rebuilding famous
structures within New Zealand, Fixing roads or providing better food and health care for those in need. New Zealand’s flag should stay!

To create a New flag it would cost way too much money and not everyone would be happy with the outcome. The money it would cost to
change our flag could be used for something way more important. Instead of being on the news for changing our flag, why don’t we be on the
news for making a change? Why don’t we step up and make New Zealand a better place? We could use the money to provide better health care
and resources for those in need.

People fought for this flag through everything. People went to war for the people of New Zealand. This was the flag that we were known for.
Lots of people will be mad about changing the flag because their family members fought for the country and that flag. The flag we have now is
what we are known for. The New Zealand flag we have now goes all the way back into history. We can’t change the flag because we are just
plain bored of it. This flag means a lot to people of all ages. People are no longer alive because they fought for the country while that was the
flag.
